Nature has always been my inspiration as an artist. The feelings of calm, excitement, awe and inspiration attained in the creative process are akin to being in or part of a natural environment, whether it be ocean, forest, desert or mountains.
Born in 1966 in the lush Pacific Northwest, I was transplanted in 1971 and raised in the arid sleepy coastal town of Redondo Beach, California. My summers as a youth were spent on Whidbey Island in Washington and this instilled in me a deep appreciation for the green forests of the Northwest, which paralleled my love of the sea I was nurtured on.
Drawing throughout my early school years let to a scholarship to the Otis Art Institute at Parsons School of Design following high school. From 1985 to 1991, I continued my art studies at El Camino College while employed as a sculptor creating prototype models for the toy industry.
From 1991 to 1993, I apprenticed under Kari Barba of "Outer Limits" to learn the art of tattoo.
In the winter of 1993, I moved to Portland, Oregon to open Atomic Art Studio, a tattoo and art studio catering to large-scale custom artwork. Over the years since Atomic Art's conception I have attended numerous conventions and received awards in several categories at each venue.
